For the record it can be argued that man has caused the extinction of many animals in ancient history. North Americas "mega fauna" comes to mind.

Actually shark is VERY good when fresh and cleaned immediately.

In my PERSONAL experience, sharks in the area I fish (Gulf of Mexico) are doing very well. Its not uncommon for us to run the beaches during the summer between Pensacola and Destin and see hundreds of bulls, black tips, spinners, hammers, bonnets, even makos a day! Usually just yards from the beach were people are swimming. Hence why I DONT swim down there any more!

Thats good for the sharks in our waters,at least thet are safe..for now.
 
Disgusting, just disgusting. It's funny, a country that is blowing out of it's own seams with people, yet they are still wasteful of the environment, it's ecosystems, and it's wildlife. This is just like the fur trade thread a couple weeks ago, and the "man-eating catfish" (more commonly known as a whale shark- an endangered species) thread just days ago.....more proof of a pathetic group of people. That includes anyone who agrees with it.

No, this one was a "small" whale shark. It was a day or two ago I read it.
 
Is anyone watching 'planet in peril' on CNN tonight? The shark finning part is on now...i must say there is no room for arrogant macho talk unless you want to embarrass yourself. This is frankly devastating.
