*sigh* I could use some help pricing out my pleco.....

So ill try and keep the back ground short,
I adopted a tank that was being neglected from a friend of a friend, 29gal(30x12x18)

It was extremly dirty...I mean horrible....We have been doing WC for the last 3 weeks trying to save some of the good BB while removing as much left-over feces and "food".

Stock: (2) barbs 1.5"--(2) tetra's (1" bronze) (2" red eye)----
and (1) huge 9" sailfin pleco..
(1) Anomalochromis thomasi/aka-Butterfly chilid 3" and,
(1) Aulonocara stuartgranti "Maulana Bi-Color 500" aka- peacock chilid- he is right around 3"


So....darn ol pleco...he is just too big for this tank

I am trying to get this 55gal to move him into. But being a full time college student with a daughter and a wife, kinda cuts into the funds.

I understand we will need to move the 2 cichilids to a larger tank anyways so really trying to convince the wife to just pick up the new tank.

SO...my wife asked me to find out about trade/selling him to our LFS before we make any decisions.

Any idea how much *generally* this guy would be worth?

I'd pay around 30, as you don't see them around here (S.Texas).

I wouldn't pay for one. You can nearly always find some for free.

You might get like $10-15 store credit from a LFS, or an even trade for something else.

However, when I was in AR working at an LFS, I could sell 1 or 2 a month that size for about $15 retail and as much as $20 for a 12"+. Much past 14" was hard to sell at all.

I would also just for S&G be interested if this pleco is "worth" more etc.

But on a positive note!!....Picked up the 55gal bout a hour or so ago and half way full w/ pretreated water atm. Also kept this lady's filters to try and keep as much beneficial bacteria as I can.
