Significant other "not in the hobby"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My lady says as long as it keep hm from out of the streets and doing things he has no business doing he can play with those tanks all day.

My G/F doesnt get too hands on with the hobby, but has over the years learnt to apprecite the tanks, and grown attached to one or two old fish that passed away, namely my old Fahaka Puffer "Tiny"...

She now shows interest in my Crysta Red Shrimp as well since i've been getting her involved with helping me thin the crowd of the ones that dont make the cut for the tank anymore since im trying to build a top quaity colony...

lol that sounds like something from american horror story, involving her thinning the crowd :P

Those crystals sound good though, any pics of them? :D

my wife does not like my hobby at all,,, took me over 2 years to get her to
agree to my current build(5' x 4' x 30") original plans were to build for rays, pbass
and an arowana but the only fish that she does like is discus. So the agreement
works if i do rays and discus,,unfortunately the discus might end up as an expensive
treat but then i get the tank mates i want!!

My husband has a strict one tank only law for now- he says Its too much work and I spend too much time on one tank as it is :p I keep trying to tell him its not work it's play

My wife hates my hobby but tolerates it to a certain point. Complains when I buy any fish related things. But then again she was the one who bought me my 135 gallon so I think she secretly likes it but won't admit it to me.

Muted tolerance is ok, the more muted, the better

I imagine it's probably harder to tolerate, when it's a massive tank; i.e. anything above 55 gallons is insane to the general public, that aren't used to it lol.

I think a 90 gallon is small relatively, but some people can't comprehend it; in which case tanks in the regions of 125+ are above and beyond to them haha
