Significant other "not in the hobby"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Between my darling bride and four young children, this affliction helps me from loosing it. They all enjoy it, but it's all up to me... And that's a good thing.
One day, my 12 yo asked me why we have so many fish/tanks, I flat out told her that its what calms me down when she and her 2 younger siblings stresses me out.....then I lovingly kissed her on the forehead ;)

My wife is into the hobby a little bit she actually boughy me my first tank years ago.She seems to like flowrhorns and discus these days.

I think its nice having some separate hobbies as long as they are supportive and have some kind of appreciation for the hobby, it works. Personally none of my friends or family are interested in fish keeping, a few may have tanks but couldn't tell you the species being kept in them.

My fiance gives me a lot of grief about my tanks because I always need a bigger tank...... she doesn't understand but when I told her I was going to build a pond in the basement for my piranha she told me I can't because she likes to have her "babies" where she can see them she won't do any maintenance or anything besides flip the valve on the python lol but she will prepare frozen food for the Ps current tank is kinda bulky

My wife says she likes my fish but, doesn't go out of her way to check out the tanks. She had tanks of her own fish but, I had to do the maintenance. When we moved she didn't want her tanks set back up again.
However, she doesn't mind or complain about my interests in the hobby. Plus, I show as much enthusiasm for the details of her hobby as I have in mine. It's all good on the home front since we support each others tastes in hobbies despite our differences in interests.

Close. Oil painting, scrap-booking, cross-stitching, knitting, and needlepoint.

Shoes are from Wally-World if on sale. Favorite purse is a denim tote she got from our son.
