Signs of a stunted gar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
solomon or pej should know. We shall wait for them to respond

Looking forward to them to be on. It's related to an alligator gar. There's one in the lfs in Winchester Lep Plat. It was the one that was kept in a 90 and is about 22" or so. Hasn't grown at all in the past couple months that I can tell. Just wondering if it would be possible to stunt a gator gar at that size.

creep, yeah its prob a bonsai but might not be. I know pej had a gar he thought was a bonsai, but when proper diet and tank was givin it shot up.

You thinking of buying or just concerned for the well being of the fish? If they didn't keep the water clean enough it could stunt it.

Well, I'm possibly thinking about buyin it. Like I said someone raised it in a 90 and brought it to the lfs where it's been kept in a 2ft wide tank. The gar looks perfectly healthy, snout is great color is good, nice and fat, but I haven't noticed any growth on it at all. Again, I'm not taking measurements either.

OK, I didn't realize there were bonsai gators. He would be going in a 6x2 tank as well, so I really don't know how much better of a home it would be, especially if I kept up on water changes and good diet and it grew!
