Signs of ICH???

im afraid i might have gotten ICH in my tank. i have a 50 gallon with a bunch of fish. about last week, i noticed some white spots on my convict's fins, not on their actual body. i ignored the problem, and the spots went away. theres still nothing on their bodies.

however, i looked at my African Tiger Fish today, and my Peacock Bass, and i noticed the same white spots on their fins that were on the convicts earlier. and its hard to tell, but i think theres some white spots on my ATF. i know ICH comes from stress, and new fish, but the newest fish i added were the peacock bass, and i got them a week or two ago.


i know to raise the temp, and add salt, but what else can i do to treat it? and is it even ICH?
 
possible causes:

i had 2 heaters going at once , a 200 watt and a 300 watt, (i only needed the 300)
and the temp was around 84-85. the fish seemed to like it.
i gave the 200watt to a friend, and i dont know if thats the cause, but my tank temp dropped to 81, which doesnt make sense because that 200watt heater only got to 80 degrees when i set it at the max anyways. it could just be my house is really cold lately.

and also, i've been using rosie red feeders for about a week, but i've kept them in a 10gallon tank. i also threw in about 2 comet goldfish, but i've had them for over 2 months, so they shouldnt have any disease on them.
 
What size is your tank and how big are all the fish?? your tank could be over stocked.

i have 2 filters running and my tank is heavily aerated.

Your tank seems very overstocked, i hope you have got a bigger tank for most of those fish. Thats why you have ich cos its over populated.
 
To treat Ick, i put some Pimafix plus some Melafix into the tank and i also put a little of Rid-ick in there too. But Note if you have a glass aquarium then the rid-ick will stain your seams to a bluish color... i have an acrylic tank so it doesn't stain anything. YAY!! :D
About your temperature dropping to 81, i don't think thats a problem... going a few degrees lower will not hurt the fish, infact that is about the right temperature for the fishes that you have anyways. GL

I would try using the salt and heat method first if its just a mild case,I agree using Rid-Ich if its a severe case, make sure you read the dosage and half it if you have scaleless cats or morymids, but forget about the Pimafix and Melafix as they do nothing for ick.

I also would have to agree with the rest about your tank being overstocked. What two filters are you using on your tank?
 
Mild cases of ich often are first visible on the fins, low levels of infection can go on for a considerable time before exploding into a raging epidemic, when in doubt, treat. Get the temp back up if you can or you will have to extend the treatment time. The salt level I prefer is 2 teaspoons per gallon. There are several effective meds for ich as well but as stated before many scale less fish are very sensitive to them.
