Silica sand ok???

estes makes all kinds of sand. google them or yahoo them and you'll see they do make it for aquariums. I found 2 30lb. bags of black estes sand for $13 each. i guess it's cheap if you know where to find it. they were on ebay.

for rays i would agree with DavidW and go barebottom unless you plan on doing alot of cleaning. Rays are huge eaters and leave lots of mess. so much easier to scoop out the crap left over with barebottom but of course it is a personal preference.

BTW, the picture of the ray doesnt look too healthy like it is losing slime coat.
 
im just gunna go with bare bottom becuse it seems easyer to handle my cleaning and my perameters. btw the silme coat looking thing is the damm sand its gone now
