Silica sand

If anything I would put it in a cup of water and leave it for a few days. Take some b4 and after water test then see if it gets hard to make sure there is no concrete additive in it. I don’t see there being any harmful chems. in it if the stuff is play sand. Right now im using some industrial quartz really fine silica sand from Menards. But a few years back when I first started keeping fish and I didn’t really know any better I grabbed a 5 gal bucket of sand from the park down the road and a few rocks from the river, it made the water cloudy for a while and I picked up a couple critters on the rocks but the fish were fine as far as I could tell and I still have most of them today.
any way if it doesn’t get hard or do anything to the water you probably will be alright if you just wash it really well. If you are still worried you could always take it back and check the label b4 you buy the next one.
