Im doing a 20gal sump with some baffles and was wondering if i can use " johnson and johnsons premium waterproof silicone meant for kitchen/bath/plumbing and its white not clear. My question is, would this be safe for my fish/ inverts/ any living organism? If so i will use it tonight\.

Clear white or black doesn't mater, antibacterial, ie: kitchen and bath stuff is no good. GE Silicone I is what your after.

GE 1 also carries a window and door one. This is the one most people use(GE1 Window/Door). GE 2 has the mold inhibitor.

Honestly there's been people who have used GE 2 with the mold inhibitor and everything was fine. Still, I'd not risk it.

well has anyone used GE II and got bad results as in dead fish or nething? or just going off whats read?
I can only speak for myself, but my advice is based on a chemistry lesson from a PhD research chemist. In addition of course to the 40k or so other explanations.

Perhaps More importantly; and as stated earlier in the thread.

Why risk it?
