Hi guys -

I have an ~18inch silver in a 135 gallon tank with a ~9inch pike cichlid. Prior to this posting the silver hadn't shown the slightest interest in any food I had offered whatsoever for at least a month. I've heard this was normal so I wasn't too worried about it. However, I did a water change yesterday and the silver has started to open and close its mouth in tune to its gills moving. Before the water change I had never seen him doing this. I'm just worried that something might be wrong (since he also isn;t eating). Do any of you guys know if somethign is wrong? Everything else on the silver appears normal.

THanks!

Hmmmmm water parameters could help.

my silver on occasion goes around his tank acting more like a lion or tiger then an arow.. he waves his head and opens and closes his mouth...almost like he is contemplating an attack on something imaginary... they can go easily 6- 8 weeks on these fasts they have every so often.. but sometimes you can break their fast by adding a couple live crickets ... i know you don't want him to get back into live food.. at least i didn't but those two crickets mine ate seemed to stimulate his appetite and the fast was over.... i hope your guy is just play acting like mine was...
