If you wanted better colour and no drop-eye then why wouldn't you just by a black? IMO blacks are superior to silvers in every aspect except price and availability, and cross-breeding a silver and black won't be any easier or cheaper than breeding blacks....

hebe do you agree with that too?
;)

YES HAHA you guys make very agreeable points haha

I would say NOT possible in captivity as even silver aros are being injected with hormones to make them breed.

If it's really possible then somewhere in Asian they probably have done it a long time ago, but I don't see any or hear any or read any document about black x silver hybrid. So it's NOT possible. Asian countries are famous for hybridizing.

Just because they haven't done it doesn't make it not possible. I'm sure there's plenty of other possible-but-too-boring/pointless hybrids that could be created but haven't.

arowfan; by all means ask, its started an interesting discussion. I'm just saying that IMO the fish are so similar that there is nothing to be gained by crossing them.

Its Just personal Opinion.
i prefer the shine of a silver and its shape as it gets older and they seem to have more character then blacks. thats just me

Possible and it depends on the genes but why cross breed them together if you already bought 2 blacks and if blacks don't keep they're blackness when they reach 20"+ or so... I would rather have a black pair than pairing a black with a silver since the outcome would either be black or silver. Nothing special IMO.
