Silver and oscar..not happy

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cats eats aro's like popcorn....keep an eye on that situation as well. Even if you think your aro is to large to be taken. Think again, i've had 4'' tsn eat 6-7'' aros even after being fed daily, and have kept about 6 or so aros in community tanks in the past and every one was chomped :naughty:. My aros are now seperated from all cats and are still living lol goodluck

As mentioned above, I don't recommend keeping arowana with SA/CA cichlids until the aro is 10-11" long. Even then the aro should be twice the length of the cichlid.

tried it with a tiger oscar before.wudnt recommend it, aro was bout 10" give or take and the oscar mayb 5".oscar had it tortured wudnt leave it alone even with the size difference, damaged it bottom fin which now has a kink from it. i ended up having to get rid of oscar.with a massive tank maybe you could.

Have a tank with a Silver Aro (9-10 inches) full grown Oscar, Jack Dempsey, and Hybrid Shovel nose cat. Not a single problem with any of them showing aggression towards each other, no nipped fins, no problems..its actually the most peaceful of my tanks

Just to let folk know again to save you posting me replys about keeping the oscar with the arro, and the other fish,

I put the oscar in a seperate tank while i found it a new home which i did the day after and it went to the LFS, which in a way i was a bit shocked how he just scooped it out of the poly box i put it in and just dumped it into a tank in the shop, he didnt ask anythig about it either, now where the heck did the rule to drip feed the water for a while before ading the new fish to a tank...

Well then, the fish i still have are 3 silver dollars, 2 severums and 2 rays with the rtcxtsn. The aro is as happy as he should be, eating great, loves his blood worms and tonight he had cricket for tea, i think it was a bit big as it took a minute for him to swollow it all.

Non of the other fish are bothering him, infact they keep away from him a bit now as he has his own space in the top corner with a few floating plants i added, his fins looked a bit rough around the edges when i got him and already look better.

I dont want to get rid of the hybrid cat but dont like the thought of it eating arnie..oh the aro that is LOL.

Whats the chance of the hybrid eating arnie, the hybrid is just over 3 inch and arnie is around 5 inch. I keep the hybrid fed well aswell.

In the long run the hybrid will have its own tank if need be to.

wayne:)
