Got a Silver Aro. He's in a 125 to grow out until I get a 8x2x2 or bigger. He's in with my 13" Oscar and 10" Loisellei. Didnt realize how big my Oscar was until I put in the Aro.

He keeps going after the Aro who is about 11". He isnt full on attacking, but he is taking a pop at him every couple minutes. This Oscar has never killed another species of fish besides other oscars. He hates other O's, but has always done well with other species.

Anyone else been here? I have gotten other fish in the past and put them in. He'll do the same thing, and will eventually get used to them and stop bothering them.
I cant rearange the decor because i dont have any to begin with.

I guess i'm just wondering how introductions have gone with you guys.

should i get more dither fish? maybe some cheap ones to keep him busy?

It's probably a territory issue. Try rearranging the decor and keep an eye on it.

This is why most will recommend that when keeping arowana and cichlids together, the arowana should be about twice the length of the cichlid.

I would seperate them if possible

yeah.. separate.. but if you really want to house them together, put them back together when the silver gets large enough.. there still may be territory issues, but atleast the aro is big enough to survive from the attack.. lol

i agree.... take out all the decor and place them different.

U mention u can't rearrange decor. So i am telling u another solution. Actually it's my experience. I have 1 texas & 2 oscars with my silver arowana. Initially i had the same problem. Though i think they can't damage the arowana but definately give some stresses. Then i started to keep them busy in feeding. I used 2 feed them a lot. After some days i saw a complete opposite case, my arowana was try to bite my oscar's fins from them back but never from the front. Now they r not fighting & they r staying peacefully. It took just 1-2 weeks. So u can do the same thing & keep patience. Hopefully this will solve your problem. Best of luck.........

from my experience id say separate them most esp since ur O is a considerable size as compared to ur silver

Guys, she said already that re-arranging decor is not an option due to lack of them. My advice would be to use an acrylic separator. At least until aro gets longer (say at least 6" more) errrr should not take that long anyhow.

Without separation chances are good that aro is a goner with a longer and chunkier O
