Silver Aro Acting Weird

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what the fish doing is got nothing to do with the water quality, that fish is stressing/spooking of something thats all, whats the point of doing WC when the water is is good shape?
what it does is just making that poor fish stressing even more, what i would do is find out whats stressing the fish..could be some other fish in there? could it be you the enviromental outside the tank? yes arowana is very aware of what is going on outside its box, and arowana at that size very easily get spooked/stressed.

You definitely need to do a nitrate/nitrite test. How long has the tank been up and running? He may just be stressed and trying to chill out for a bit. Mine usually hides behind a piece of driftwood for an hour or so after I do a gravel cleaning/water change. As long as he isn't breathing heavily or weak/swimming head down he should be fine.

tanks been up for about 7 months now and never had any water chem problems. he is healthy but just lays at the bottom. ive read about it in the past and people have said it is normal and try to turn the lights off until he gets used to the surroundings so i will try that.

dude algea bloom is from the lights being on to long thats what happened to my tank. I left the lights on for two days when i was gone and i got tons of algea in the tank. Leave the lights off when you go to bed and put a lower voltage light on. If its the 150 tall make sure you turn the lights off at night and that should take care of your algea problem. Otherwise that fish looks stressed to me, and isnt getting enough oxygen since hes strafing.

the lights are only on for 12 hrs max a day? but thanks.. and theres plenty of O2

12 hours a day is alot IMO i leave mine on from 3:30 pm till about 11pm, 8 hours a day and the tank is crystal clear. I do have a 24" strip light on when i turn the bigger one off then i switch. Reason for is i wont leave my lights on when there is no one around. causes alot of algea, pain in the ass to clean a 30" deep tank, And the bulb is expensive. Otherwise i would advise you to try this method and see if it works for you. If you dont see results in a clear tank then your weekly water changing is off. And no problem just trying to help

As you were told in your other thread, arowana that size should be kept solitary. With the list of tank mates you gave, most likely your aro is stressed due to being bullied by one or more of them. Your tank water looks :barf: you really ought to open another thread regarding that problem.

i have 2 canisters, a cascade 1500 and a xp3. i recently had an algae bloom which as you can tell is still lingering but on its way out.
