Silver aro buldging eyes!!! Help!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Without the swollen body I would say estuary has it pegged. Popeye is more of a result and not a disease, as stated before commonly caused by poor water conditions and internal bacteria infections. I would just go with lots of water changes to keep nitrates around 10ppm and add 1 tablespoon of salt per 5 gallons of water. Up the temp to 85 degrees and add and airstone for extra oxygen. If you don't see improvement in a couple weeks then go for a medication. Not sure about the stingrays though, may want to post in the stingray forum.

sounds like he has drop eye. It is a condition found in over 90% of domestic silver arowanas, the cause is still unknown (don't let anyone tell you they know what it is).
I can tell you what it is.......... it happens in humans as well. It's what I like to affectionately call.... "marrying your first cousin's, aunt's, mother's, brother's, second born son."

If your refering to DE being caused by inbreeding, then how would you explain the wild caught silver also getting DE?

the white tissue that holds his eyes in has gone back to normal, but he still hasnt ate anything yet. i treated the water with prozipro and did a 30% water change , ill do another watert change in a couple of days. also treated with salt. ill keep you guys updated with any changes.

good to hear he ate and really good to hear his eyes look better..
