Hey everybody. Its been about a week since purchase. He is still really nervous in the tank and hes the only fish in there. He darts around when i aproach the tank even when i go slow and cautiously. he is still not feeding on pellets that i have witnessed. I read the sticky on feeding, what to feed, habits to form, etc. not sure what to do at this point. I have offered many different varietys of food. crickets he will eat, fish i think he will eat. he chased one but i havnt witnessed him eating. Is it possible that he eats after lights out? I have had many difficult feeding species in the saltwater days, like rays and sharks, and i have not had this much difficulty. Any advice from the experts that have either had similar situations, or can think of something else that i should try to help get him more comfortable in this home? i know this has been asked probably a million times. I have read some past posts but none really seemed to help much, or tell me stuff i dont already know.

I would put some calm fairly active fish with it that are too large to eat. Maybe large clown loaches, severum, stuff that isn't aggressive that might calm him down. Plus when he sees the other fish eating he might start. Sit in front of the tank lot, so he gets used to you.

How about i just putting him in with my big oscars? The oscars are maybe 8-9 inches...im just afraid they will think hes food...i do feel like that would be the best, just since they will be tankmates in the end. Any thoughts?

Silver aros shouldn't be mixed with large cichlids until the aro is 10-11" long and 2x the length of the cichlids. So unless the aro is 15-16" long mixing with the Oscars is not good advice.

So, i looked at my local food markets for prawns...always sold out...wtf! He ate some worms, and he seems to eat every 3 days...so idk. Is that normal?

Arowana needs to be feed 3 times a day until 12 inch... If u wish add some liver bearers like guppies nd mollies... When he came to know u wont hurt him means u can start to hand feed him wit prawns... Sorry for my english

Your sliver is most likely just not used to the new environment. Dun move it any more. Once he is comfortable, he will eat like a pig. Dun worry. I had one aro that didn't eat for 2 weeks, and after about 4mths, I moved to him to another tank, this time he didn't eat for more then a week. Aros need time to adjust.
