Question for u aro pros,
I have a 14" silver i bought at 7". He recently got spooked and jumped out of the tank about a month ago while i was messing with the air lines in the tank. He went about 6 ft hit the floor and flopped i paniced (first time he has ever jumped) picked him up with a rag and put him back in he was dazed for a day but started eating fine and was back to his old self in no time. Heres my problem, now every time im in his tank doing a water change or even just taking the lid off to feed he tries to jump out, i figured id as the pros if u guys have any tricks to keeping them calm and not jumping while u r working in there tank?

And tankmates are 9" armatus, 10" micropogon cat. 2 8" albino bichrs, 7" featherfin cat, 6" silver dollar he has lived with all of them since i got him and never jumped before

Tried with light on and off.
And how do u play with the aro? Lol

you can pet it lol, my jardini used to rub on my hand when i do some cleaning. miss those days, now shes bigger and all she wants to do is take my fingers off.

Maybe someone in your household has been banging on the glass or stressing the fish out possibly causing the jumping? Theres so many reasons for why aros jump but i think in this case hes been scared of people. I suggest you should spend time in front of the tank maybe on the computer or something until hes used to you. Im sure that its just a phase and it will pass even if you dont do anything. Weigh down the lids in case tho!
