incorrect

a silver arowana needs at least a 478 (96 x 48x 24) for life.

a 30'' width with not be of great use to a fish that can easily hit the 36'' mark

del, you have a 2ft silver in a 180. there is no way it will ever hit the 3ft mark in that tank. most captive silvers get 2.5 foot max. mostly because people do keep them in 180's or even smaller so they will never hit their potential. i see nothing wrong with a lone silver in a 180. just my opinion guys.

thats a pretty lame excuse to make a 180 a permanent home for a silver arowana.

though this is true for me this tank will never be a permant home for her.

what makes you think a silver stops at 30 inches?

I got my 24" silver aro out of a 150 and put it in a 300. I dont think it has grown at all in the year that i've had it. It does look much much better though lol.

Del you keep saying it's not a permanent home etc, but it kind of is. The aro has pretty much stopped growing correct? In fact I think it's shrunk, as it went from 28 to 26 inches. And you don't have any new tank coming in the near future correct?

So until you get a bigger tank, it is her permanent home, you can;t keep saying it's not when you don't have a bigger tank on the way, and you already consider her too big for the one you have.

Also del you say easily hit the 3 foot mark, who do you know on here with a 36 inch+ silver? Nobody.

I knew someone in England that had a silver, couple of gars and a RTC in a big indoor pond, and the aro stopped growing at around the 2 foot mark. Like rallysman's, it had not grown at all for about a year.

oh really? no one has a silver 3ft?

what about todd?, that thing is well over 3ft.

theres more to it than tank size and water quality, diet plays a major role in the growth of these fish, most of the diets i read that people feed these fish just isnt rich enough. also how many live to see 3ft? not very many, todds aro is 6 years old, thats not old but DAYUM! and mine is 3 but will be 4 in october.
