Hey all. A few days ago i purchased a silver aro. The store fed him for me and he ate well. How many days is an average before he will start feeding regularly? He ate crickets last night, but seemed to have a hard time finding the food! And hes still very scared. When i approach the tank he goes nuts. Currently hes in a new arrival tank. 55 gallons. he has drift wood, and i have a floating plant for him to use as well. Any thoughts? My last aro was never this way and i only sold him because my 250 was no longer holding water...

Hez just getting adjusted... try to keep the lights low and dont surprise him... he will come around pretty soon.... cheers :)

Okay, phew. I got a little panicky there for a minute. currently hes in a 55 with a red texas. Its partitioned so they cant get at each other. Would it help if he had his own tank? And my last aro was with large oscars, is that an okay combination when he gets bigger? Ive always heard it was alright since oscars arent supper aggressive. Well mine arent anyways

Definitely a tank of his own... introduce tankmates when he gets upto 12-14" that way he would be stable...

Alright ill make those adjustments when i get home. Hes only about 6 inches now so hes got a ways to go. Thanks for your help and advice.

When I got my silver even i had the similar problem i go near my tank and my solver just darts!!Sadly it took 1 month for it to get adjusted..
I dont think it takes that long only in my case..
Please do post some pics

I will get some pictures up when i get home. I tried feeding him some crickets the AM but he just hid under the driftwood. Beautiful colors though, and the tank he will go in once he acclimates and gets bigger will be a 120 with actinics :)

Well heres a good shot of him so far. I dont have lights on since he still freaks out if i get to close. Im still having a heck of a time getting him to take pellets. He doesnt even pay attention to them.
