Silver Arowana agression...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well, I still have them together and the black still got pummeled on and off during feeding time. I lowered the water temp to about 80 to make them less aggressive. I also think that it all started when I added small (3-4") blue acara, Oscar and some peacocks. during feeding time these cichlids are so fast and the aros just too slow. The silver takes the frustration to the black aro. I will get the Oscar and blue acara out and see. They are the worse in term of eating all the food.

It's an old tread but

I have the same problem with my 11.5" silver and 11" black. It happened all of the sudden. They were like best friends when I put them together 3 weeks ago. The black one was the first in the 220 gallon for about a week before I got the silver one. Since the beginning my black aro has been just following the silver like best buddy. I start seeing missing scales and it is getting more and more aggressive toward the black. I do prize the black way more than the silver. I hate to get rid off the silver thou. ??!!??

Honestly I'd separate, I made the mistake of adding a 2nd "impulse" buy silver to my collection, started out fine but suddenly something changed about a week in, noticed they started sparring lightly...something told me to separate em...I didn't...went up to eat dinner...came back down to shut the lights out on my tanks...and my 1st one was on the floor

I think you are right. I will put the silver in the 75 gallon grow out tank this week.

best thing to say is remove one. it will never work out ive tried for months with my 2 albinos and i recently got rid of my big 26 inch one.
space is your number one problem, even if your black doesnt fight back it will get harassed by the silver.
