silver arowana and gars in the same tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I guess for some reason I had always assumed that they were aggressive to other top water species. thats cool though they aren't and he will get along with my gar. if worst comes to worst then ill just move the aro to my 90 gallon isolation tub until i can trade him. thanks guys! also i'd appreciate any gar+aro combo stories/tanks out there if you got one!

What happened with mine was they kind of duked it out for big man of the tank and the gator obviously outgrew the jardini pretty fast and the jardini knew he would lose and kind of stood away from the gar. but the gar was probably one of the most docile fish I have ever kept.

Jardini from my understanding are a bit more aggressive then the silver

Yah for sure, there is a local fish store here that had a both a group of silvers and a group of jardini in separate tanks and the silvers where totally fine the whole time intell they were sold but the jars had to be separated because they were fighting and a few had some good marks and minor fin loss

From my experience, my 12-14" silver used to bully my 8-9" banjar, but did not have enough guts to bully a 6-8" rtg. That's what I found weird, even though the silver already claimed the tank as his own.

I've got a black aro in with 2 floridas and a gator aro is about 14" the 2 floridas are 17" and the gator is 11" the aro was added about 3 months ago so far no problems also had a 20" jardini before I sold him to get the black no problems there either the only bad experience I've had with gar tankmates is a large pacu that ripped part of of the bottom jaw off my oldest florida a few years back
