So this is gonna sound weird and I might be crazy but I have a 3ft silver arowana(probably male) that is what I’m thinking trying to court my albino giant gourami who I expect is also a male. I’ve noticed the arrow swimming towards the bottom of the pond always within a couple ft of my gourami and then I caught him right up against the gourami shacking its head from side to side. It’s been a couple days and he keeps staying right beside the gourami and putting his body right up against him. I know it’s probably theoretically impossible for them to mate but it’s causing other fish in the pond to act off. The gourami has no torn fins and the arrow has not bitten him or acted aggressively but the gourami seems like he doesn’t know what’s happening and a little stressed. If my Pacu come close to them the arrow will chase him off and bite him. Arrow hasn’t eating in the past two feedings but gourami still eating. Pond is 4k gallons with other large fish and catfish. Before this started my water temp was up to 85-86 so I started venting the pond and got the water temp down to low 80s over two day. After I did this is when it started so it makes me believe that I triggered a “rain cool down” and kicked him into breed mode. Not sure if arowanas start breeding in this way but wanted to get y’all’s opinion. Thanks IMG_4959.jpegIMG_4975.pngIMG_4978.png
These are the two for reference before it started
