Silver Arowana Died

My Silver Arowana jumped out of my tank last night even though I had tops on with weights. There was only a two inch opening that had to have been the hole he jumped through. He was sold to me as a Platinum Silver which he was not. However I was looking forward to raising him up and comparing him to a normal Silver to see if he had some high shine in him. Anyways RIP.:cry:
 
Wow seems to be alot of this happening lately. Sorry for the loss, but why was the 2" hole left uncovered?

Thanks! It was overlooked on the back end of the opening of the tank. Even then we were amazed that he fit through the hole (the whole was only about two inches), the opening had a plexi glass lid with a weight on top. He was a 16 inch Arowana and could not believed he fit through.
 
Sorry for your loss. I lost mine too this week, so know how you feel.

sorry for your loss. it seems too small of a hole to fit through. I guess some fish will just find a way.
