Im thinking about bying a Silver Arowano in my discus thank. Anyone that got some experience of this? I have seen i another thread that there are some who got these two together and it seems like its working...
But shouldent the Aro kill the discus in some time when its getting bigger?
And have i got it correct that the silver Aro isnt as agressive as the other Ones??? Or am i out on a limb there?:liar:
Thank you And exuse my english

They actually come from the same area of the world and actually should do alright together. The arowana are not really main fish eaters in the wild, and prefer to take down things from the surface, though they will go for smaller fish. The discus get to a good size and I think they should be fine. They generally are not big enough to fit in the arowana's mouth as adult sizes.
Unless someone else can tell me I am wrong..

I kept a black aro with my discus, for some time with no problems. Eventually the aro outgrew the tank. The recommended tank size for a silver aro is in the 8 foot long 300 gallon range. They grow very fast, so unless your discus are already in a very large tank or you are willing to buy a very large tank, I wouldn't recommend it.

the discus are about 15cm big and the tank is a 720liters thats 200*60*60cm.
But a realize that i have to upgrade it later anyway becuase i also want a potamotrygon Reticulata:)
But thats maybe a year away

But i am more consernd about howe the Aro would treat the discus. (not that a big tank is important!!)
Thank you for your answers anyone more who wants to share some experiences???

heres mines. as long as the discus aren't small enough to fit in the aro's mouth then
its ok.
