whos had the crazyest silver arowana growth rate? i wanna hear some stories! i got mine at about 3 inches 3 months ago and now he is about 8-9 inches, smoking my florida gar.

Silver arowana are gluttons, it is very easy to over feed them and see growth rates of 3" per month. Of course actual documented proof does not exist as everyone's measurements are just "eyeballed" and generally you get a situation such as in the link previously posted.

Yes as I recall you posted some inaccurate measurements that lead to a highly unlikely growth rate.

My silver has gone from 5-6" to 15-16" in about six-seven months (I am not 100% sure of when I got it, but I think it was around September-October 2009), so either way it has grown about 1.5" a month.

I had my 3 x Silvers at 10" last year december and within 4 months the 2 smaller ones grew to about 18"-19" and the biggest one is pushing 21". The biggest one I actually got to measure it when it was chilling in 1 spot against the side of my tank and I got to do a more precise measurement then. Also the biggest silver is nearly the same size as my 22" black Aro which I actually measured it when I got him in a styrofoam container. All the silvers were 1st purchased last year August at 6".

LOL How can you possibly grow a fish too quickly ???

You can make them fat by feeding them the wrong foods, but if you feed them appropriate foods they just grow, relative to how much you feed them. They'd eat it all in the wild if they got the chance, so why not?

i bought a group of 5 in october of 2008 and they were about 6inches.i sold them in january of this year and all of them were between 25 and 27inches.so they grew 20inches or so in 15 months.i had another silver that shot up from 4inches to almost 2ft in a year.
