Hi I recently posted about a rather minor issue regarding my silver arowanas. But just now I have found out that one of my aros are not eating. Whenever I would give them food, one of them would attempt to eat one and would suddenly look like they're struggling to swallow. After struggling for a bit they would eventually just spit it out, and he would do this every single time he attempts to eat. He would never be able to eat since the other aro would always eat everything the he couldn't eat.

I'm feeding them Hikari Carnivore Sticks and they're both around 8". Water parameters are perfect no ammonia, etc. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks

Please seperate or you will lose one shortly the other Aro is probably stressed and will get worse if it doesn't eat. Atleast seperate for awhile until the other Aro regains its appetite and strength.

Okay so should I just put a divider between them for now? That'll probably do the trick as for the aro regaining appetite and strength as you said.

I honestly think you just need to get rid of one sorry mate. Do you really need 2 aros? Youl eventually need a huge tank to house 2 of these fish. Surely one aro is enough?

I agree with the above, unless there is a reason specifically why you need to house the two aros together, best get rid of one...

The divider trick mentioned above will work for a while, but as they grow, they will need more space (which the divider kills) and the potential to knock down any divider you put up...

Getting rid of one is no problem, but the real issue we're talking about here is the fact that one of the aros are struggling to swallow food and eventually just spits it out. He hasn't eaten food for a day and a half now. PLEASE HELP.

But how will getting rid of one aro suddenly allow the other aro to be able to swallow food normally. Remember one aro is doing fine and able to eat no problem, but the other is trying to swallow but just gives up and spits it out.

Im no aro expert so this is just a guess...

Maybe the fish is stressed enough it doesnt want to eat, or possibly got attacked near the throat area and is having problems swallowing???

have you seen both aro's eating food sticks? it's possible the one that is "struggling" just doesn't like the taste and is spitting them out. post a video, it may help identify the problem.

your other problem is not a minor one - one of them is getting beaten on, and it will only get worse, until it dies. stress is not a great motivator for eating.
