  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thank you so much for all the help I am going to do what you suggested and see if it will help my arowana.

again thank you for all the help i really appreciate it!

A cycled that will have an ever increasing measurable amount of nitrates. Your arowana looks to have fin rot, which is most commonly cause by poor water conditions. How long has this tank been set up?

my tank is fully cycled for about a month and a half already, but I didn't fully cycle the tank before I got the fish which may be the cause. But then again I see the fin keep rotting for a month already and its not getting any better. Also i was looking at the pectoral fins that is like almost gone on both sides has black on the edges which i assume its ammonia burn but my API testing kit says there isn't any ammonia.

I really appreciate all the help.

Also my silver arowana is eating healthy never did my arowana starve itself or anything. He did have a period of time in the beginning where he would sit at the bottom of the tank but now he rarely does that anymore. Even though after a couple of months my silver arowana still gets startled easily even if i just sit in front of the tank to watch and get up my arowana would get frightened and jump.

Not ammonia burn it's fin rot.

How exactly did you "cycle" your tank? Again a "cycled" tank will have nitrates your claiming zero?

Well yeah its ammonia free now cause its been almost two months so the tank is cycled, but unfortunately for that aro you put him directly in an uncycled tank, which isn't ideal by any means, so he's just starting to recover now that the water isn't toxic. But like stated above no no3 readings indicate that the tank doesn't have both bb or just one. Could be ammonia burn or fin rot or heck even both, but from here on out keep the n03 as low as possible with 1-2x per week 50% wc and a great varied diet and he will be a stunner once again! Gl

mabey its just me but hes got a tint of pink in the pic...... he wasnt dyed was he? i could be trippin. mabey the lights affect. i only ask cause my silver aro has the same problem but i think its the stress of being dyed, mine is pink about 14 inches got him as a 4 inch pink. as hes aged hes faded n his fins look like they junkin out still eats like a boss and swims normal just not as handsome as he should be.

thanks for all the help!!!

Right now all the water parameters are good i check it like 2x a week and do a water change 1x a week.

I am not sure if my arowana is dyed or not I brought it with a little of pink/red on the ends of the fins and some on the body too.

HELP!!!

I raised the water temp and added salt to the tank and also did 1x week water change but the fin rot is just getting worse. I also notice that the scales on my silver arowana seems like its starting pealing off towards the bottom of the body. I also noticed that the bottom of his body seems like cloudy and its like not smooth anymore. I dont know if my arowana is starting to have ich.

I also did a water change today and tested the water parameter and it was fine. The ammonia nitrate nitrite was 0 but the pH is high at 7.6.

My arowana is still eating his stick pellets and is swimming around like normal, but it looks realllly badddd.. I'd appreciate all the help.
