Hey all i was at the LFS today checking out the arowanas. Im going thrusday to buy a Silver arowana, about 3". Now I was wondering what else i can keep it with. It will be put into a 40g grow out for now till i get my big tank. Which will be in about 3 months. So like maybe can i keep it with oscars? or jack demspey? or maybe a smaller breed of snake heads? But i want to introduce them at the same time so they are around the same size. My uncle has a 12" one and he has it with a flower horn and has had oscars with it before and jack demseys, but he took them out after cause his brother wanted them.

any suggestions?
btw what should i feed it?

Thanks for the help

I would not put a aro with oscars or any cichlids like that at that size. Under 12'' they are kinda defenseless.

No you guys are misunderstanding.. the oscars and jd's are smaller then the arowana.. they are juvies. Im not that dumb, why would i put a 3" arow with 12" oscar? they would all be arounnd the same size. and Gshock ive still seen snakeheads on ontario

Drugs too I bet...doesn't mean they're legal or discussable on a public forum.

Well yeah im only 15.. and i didnt know.. sorry

Maybe, i like them, i have to find some decent ones in my area. But ill look into it. Thanks

That makes like NO difference at all...

Best bet is to growout the young arowana by itself until it is 6". Don't mix is big cichlids with the aro until it is 10-11" and make sure the cichlids are only half the length of the aro.

So basically no tankmates until the aro is out of the 40g.
