right now i got a silver arrowana that hasnt eaten for a few days i just had him for about 3 weeks 1st few days he wasnt eating probably getting used to environment and then he started eating i usually feed him tillapia 2 times a day and now hes not eating again, he mostly just stays in 1 spot even if i approach the tank and try hand feeding him he just stays in one spot then moves later, i always hand feed him since the tillapia just goes down to the bottom of the tank and then he doesnt eat it,hes about 9-12 inches and got him from a friend, and friend also just feeds his arrowanas tillapia, heres a picture of him

he has the tank mostly to himself with a small juvenile jack dempsey that just hides,

no ammonia in the tank and ph level is around 7.8+

he gets startled alot when i approach to feed him even when i do it slowly and usually makes a splash idk if he hits himself on the glass, but it happened alot of times in the past few days,

are you keeping the light off? sometimes it's just new places and new things outside the tank that frighten arowanas.

keeping the tank dark and the movement outside the tank to minimum for a few days or weeks is helpful.

one of the big things in my house is wearing red.. the aros HATE it.. it freaks them out every time. i've learned to carry whatever red i'm planning on wearing out to the car in a bag. if it's something i need privacy to put on i drive over to the gym and change in the locker room. (ok, so my fish are spoiled)

hahah .. ig ot my silver arrowana since he's 3" long and now he's 12" and he's still crazy .. as for tilapia.. i cant get really small one here... haha ..

as for mine , he's being jumpy since he was remove from the pack and brought home.. and from young he get startled easily alone and i always put him in packs of cichlid.. the cichlids doesnt bother him thou..
it me that bothers him hahaha.....

had hard time feedign him.. never use live feeder but handfeeding doesnt work too..coz he's just too afraid of me lol.. always envy ppl handfeeding their pets fish.

so had a small submerge floating platform where i can put my prawn tehre and it will go there and snap it...

Try floating foods... it hard to get them to eat sink food esp with all the other fishes aruond.

Market prawns , frozen blood worm ... or the hikari monster isze stick. works for me even now

yesterday he was injured due ot bad handling while transfering some fish.. he got startled and ran into the net with a largemouth bass.. and got injured... took him 1 hour to stable down again... using melafix for his wounds

oh yea i agree.. red color seem to freak out some fish... put a parrot fish inside lol.. so he get use to it.. you need better picture and post it here if u can.. it hard to see lol.

how big is ur tank ..

i feed him the tillapia fillets cut thin and long enough so i can stick half of it in the tank without sticking my fingers in there,i had to hand feed him since i cant really find any other to feed him the sinking food,i tried some floating pellets that i feed my flowerhorns but he just ignoes it,i also tried crickets but he just wont go after it but ill give some other time when he starts eating again,
and if you could help me on ways to feed him sinking food while the food is still on the top like platforms that would help alot :D

I fed my aro fresh shrimp (1"-2") right from my hand. Also, feeding him floating pellets helps stimulate use of his eyes and leads to a decreased chance in having the dreaded droopy eyes. What are his tankmates? they might be intimidating him. Mine was 8 inches in with a 12 inch tiger oscar and a 8 inch dempsey and he ruled the tank, hands down. Maybe yours just has a passive personality, all fish are different ya know.

tilapia is a staple food for u guys ? :S i dont eat tilapia lol..

As for floating plateform.. well i was using overhead filter last time in the small tank .. so the water inlet is by the side... and there's a somesort of abox shape on the pipe .. so i just put it there and he eats it...

but mine someitmes get pick off by cichlid and it annoys me lol.

get the hikari sticks.. i just switch to that , he seems to eat them.. the monster size one.. how is he doing ? not moving ? .. how big is ur tank ? ?
