Silver Boxwood leaves suddenly turning Albino

I think it is a variation in the growth of the plant. I found a 2 tone mint plant that had all white off shoots from the ground. I tried to propagate the all white with no success. It had root and all but did not survive. I read somewhere that albino plants need to be attached to the main plant with color to survive. The chlorophyll from the green part of the plant allow photosynthesis which the white does not.
