Just bought a 3 inch silver dat for 35 bucks. He is in a growout tank with two Orino Pbass and a couple clown loaches. I dont know much about dats but he was too awesome and the price seemed pretty good. My question is will silvers grow just as fast or faster than other datnoids? Is the silver color the only difference between other datnoids or are they different all together? Not good questions so if anyone could give me some insight as to what to expect from this guy it would be greatly appreciated! Thank. Looking forward to owning my first dat:headbang2
 
I think Silvers tend to grow a bit quicker as the majority of the time they are more outgoing and greedy eaters compared to other dats. You'll find they do look different to other dats, not only the colour and markings, but their profile too, their eyes appear smaller also. They get to around 12''.

silvers and cambeli tend to be most aggressive of tigers. AT max out bout 12 inch.
very greedy and aggressiive at feeding time.
not so aggressive when small.
 
Awesome. You guys got me excited. He will be well fed. I have seen some Insane prices for when they are bigger. How much do these go for full grown

well he is currently in hiding but when i get a chance i will snap some pics. so im going to use this thread as my crash course for getting to know datnoids. Are they skittish? this guy seems a little scared of me. Hopefully that clears up. Also what is the NTT, indo, itt stuff that i keep seeing? Is that a type of datnoid? What would a silver be? And widebar vs thinbar? how can you tell? im sure its obvious but i just dont know
 
They are quite outgoing for Dats but skittish also.

Mine is very curious, will come toward the front of the tank, but then when eye contact with me is made, he runs off... lol
