Can silver dollars safely and peacefully be kept with bala sharks and tinfoil barbs in the same tank?
Note: My silver dollars are slightly smaller than the tinfoil barbs I plan on purchasing.

Yea. They can be nippy but keep well fed and should be fine.

I have found that my SD are very aggressive with the tin foils and the bala sharks. So the important issue to me is that you give them enough room so that the tin foils and sharks can safely find a retreat, or space to stay away. In a crowded tank you're going to have troubles. The bigger the tank the better.

I have tinfoils and balas together. When i initially got them i was pondering getting a few silver dollars to go with them too. But i was put off, not because of potential compatibility issues, but because i read that silver dollars can be the most skittish fish and i just didn't want fish that were going to go berserk. Maybe their skittishness can be attributable to tank size i.e smaller the tank the more likely they will be skittish. If this is the case, bearing in mind too that your tinfoils and balas will hit 12", then your tank is going to have to be quite a beast.

Silver dollars are great fish I have kept them with angelfish, bichirs, varieties of tetras, gouramis, black ghost knife fish, green severums, and currently my female dovii. In my experience the get along with pretty much everything but the more you have the better. Just make sure you have plenty of room for them, when they get spooked they will dart very very fast so make sure that they have room to swim so that they don’t hurt themselves.
