I've used salt in treating for ich. The SDs were fine after adding 3 tablespoons of salt per 5 gallons of water over a 48 hour period. I maintained this level of salt for 14 days with no issues from the SDs

Various types of silver dollars should all get along, although I found that red hooks are a little too nippy when mixed with the other types.
funny never had SD myself, wife got a wild hair and took this guys hectogon tank with a SD. needless to say the tank needs resealing, I cleaned it up but not getting water till that is done, put the SD with the oscar in the 180, appears to be a fun little fish, but now I will need to get a couple more as they best in groups of 3, or 5 or 7.
I do have 12 now, 4 wide bar,4 red hook,2 common and 2 spotted, they are very active fish, swim all over my tank
Buy about a couple hundred bucks worth of plants and spend few hours to aquascape. Fishes will be at ease.
