Hey, I was wondering if it is possible to keep 3 (or more) common silver dollars in a standard 55 gallon aquarium for life. I am talking tank size, filtration is good. These will be the only inhabitants in the aquarium. Can this work? Thanks.

Probably, be prepared for some really skittish glass banging though; my old trio were a nightmare

I have 5 spotted silver dollars in a 4'x2'x2' 120 gallon. The spotted SD grow a bit smaller than your typical 'common' SD, and I think I'm pushing it with my setup. SD are very fast swimmers and spook easily. I think there's good potential for them to hurt themselves in a 55.

SD's tend to be very active swimmers. They do better with longer footprint tanks, especially as they mature. That being said....Although a 55 is not ideal, it's probably bigger than what most of the Walmart SD's end up in.
