To me it depends on the available space. If there's not a lot of space and the SDs get spooked, they can tear up anything that can be torn up.
I keep fish that supposedly "destroy" plants and they've yet to do any real harm to them at all.
I only have basic stuff though, like listed above. Java fern, java moss, cryps, anubia and swords. Siamese algea eaters, kissing gourami, tiger barbs, etc.. etc don't harm them at all.
