I finally came up with my 55g stock....I got this 3inch male green terror and Im gonna add him to the 55g...I wanna some type of schooling fish and I was thinking silver dollars....But i wanna know from peoples experiences with silver dollars..How many silver dollars can be kept with a male GT in a 55g?

I tried that a few months ago. Put four silver dollars in with an 8" adult male green terror and several other cichlids (jack dempsey and oscars). One week later, I had two silver dollars and had to remove them because they were torn up. The green terror attacked them constantly. My green terror is a mean cuss, and only my other large cichlids have survived with him. Your green terror might have a different temperment, so one never knows. Good luck.

That is way too many cichlids for a 55g, and you will have more problems in the future.

Silver dollars are great tankmates for a GT. I'd get 6.

You're recommending six silver dollars for a 55g tank? They get pretty big. Eventually the GT will be enough for the 55g by himself. I'm figuring he's small right now so it looks like there's plenty of space. I had a 10" GT in a 55 gallon and he made it look small. If anything, get some smaller giant danios or something.

silver dollars will make the tank look more crowded than it already is with all the cichlids in. you need to have one big cichlid but nothing over 10" as a 55g is 12" wide or something close to that.
stick to a lone GT and try giant danios (like balton777 suggested) or try filament barbs. they dont get too big but they are always bright and always on the move.

well thats the thing...my last green terror I had in the 55g tank...he would eat the tiger barbs and giant danios and australian rainbows....I wasted alot of money on that project....thats why i wanted to go with something bigger so he wont see it as a meal....

I have kept silver dollars with a green terror with no problems at all.

its not that there will be a problem. its a space issue IMO.
if the GT is young and you add the dithers at the same time then there should not be a problem. i strongly suggest a smaller dither though. i suggested filament barbs as it would be a very lucky GT that could catch one to kill and eat and they are big enough to not be a snack but small enough so as not to crowd the tank.

catfish can also be used as dithers. a common combination is Pim. pictus and a single GT in a 55.

I understand what you are saying......where could i find filament barbs at?
