Always threads on "How big of a tank". Always unrealistic answers. Like 750 will be cramped. So I was wondering what size tanks are MFKers keeping there aro's in and for how long? Just a simple reply of fish size, tank size and how long, tankmates would help too. Let's see what is really going on.

I have my 18" aro in a 200, 8'L X 2'W X 20"T, with 2 mono pbass (12" and 13"), 2 oscars (9" and 11") 3 red hook silver dollars (5"), a 7" widebar dat and a 12" TSN. I have two azul pbass (7 1/2" and 9"), a sailfin marble cat (10"), and 3 more widebars (5 1/2" - 6 1/2") that are waiting to join the mix.

Personally, I feel this is already going to be really crowded and am looking to get them into something substantially larger, preferrably in the 10x4x3 range.

I said that a 750 would be cramped... mine is in a 750 pond 8' diameter 30" deep large list of tankmates not going to list them all he has been in there for over a year now and I have a bigger pond for him just dont have a big enough pump to keep the big one clean yet so there are no fish in it yet till I get the bigger pump. the big pond is 10' in diameter and 30" deep would have gone bigger but I cant fit bigger in my basement... and my statement about one being cramped in a 750 when full grown is very true...... you cant expect a fish that can reach 4' long to feel comfy in a tank of even 1000 gallons they need room to swim

I say just ignore him if he doesnt wanna listen. He is obviously one of those guys who wants the same question asked 100 times untill finally he gets the answer that he wants from one person so he can ignore the 500 who said it wont work.

Silvers get 4' so look at atleast a 4' wide tank but should really be wider and atleast 10-12' long. Everyone realises alot of silvers dont get 4' but only because they are stunted by being kept in smaller tanks which isnt right.

What are you talking about? Read the post and try not to complicate it. 750 would be ideal but not very realistic for most MFKers. And I doubt a 3-4ft. Aro would be cramped in it. If you have or had aros, post what they are housed in and for how long and then you won't be a highjacker. How you get "obviously He is one of those guys" is a pretty stupid statement from what I was asking in this thread. If you read back through all these type questions you will find anything from a 180 and up for Aros. The more it is asked the bigger the tanks need to be. That is why I asked what is really being used to house them.

I have my 25ish" silver in a 265, I've had him in there for about 2 years (he was 24" when i got him) I have never seen this fish use the width of the tank.

I have had my black aro in my 300 (same width as the 265) for about a year and a half. he was 10" when I got him and he's probably around 16" now.
