Average growth for silver arowana is 1 to 1.5" per month. Growth spurts of upto 3" per month are not that uncommon. This growth rate is seen upto around the 24-25" mark and then their growth slows to a couple inches or less a year. So figure within a year your arowana will be at least 15" and in need of a new tank. Realize though that arowana could reach that size in as little as 8 months from now, or even sooner.

This is why i will never get a silver aro, they need to much room. A jardini or asian will be perfectly fine in a 220 for all of its life.

Well I have a old still running square pound outside what would be the steps to take to have the pound to hold the arowana?

First you going to have to heat it year round which will be costly.

Agreed, they are tropical, so pond needs to be heated in your climate outdoor isn't an option.

A three foot wide and six foot long aquarium is going to be costly too.

With Arowanas you have got to be prepared to go big or monster with the aquariums from the start. I would go as big as you are capable of going. If economics is an issue look into the DIY section you may want to build your own aquarium.

My Aro is in a 8x32" footprint and I think that will work for a very long time. But still hoping to upgrade to a 3' wide tank in about 2.5-3 years sooner if need be
