Silver Tanning

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not possible

if it was, everyone would have a platnium and they would be worthless

I didn't mean platnum as the "platnum" albino ones, but more like platnum as in a really shiney, chromed colored. Do silvers' scales cross at the top level as they get older?

Well how about someone trys it?

And lets us know the results.

i dunno, doubt it will work steve

besides, the colors dont last forever and i think having strong lighting on a silver will stress it out.

imagine being in an office with the lights being on you all day. no natural sunlight.

i get stressed out sometimes if my blinds are shut and there no sunlight coming in, light does have a pychological effect on humans as well as animals.

id like my fish to be as comfortable as possible, and forget tanning.

btw i open the blinds everyday in the morning and let my tank get some natural rays, no direct though.

not sure i understand this completely

but from the way im reading it, i think that would cause them to look down.

id be looking down too if there where afew spot lights coming down on me

well in the wild aros look at the light for food and buy using spot lights it will have a fixed point to look at

this wont work if you have a bare bottom tank that refects the light from the tank base making the aro look down at the light

I've never read or heard of anyone tanning silvers before. But I would assume that good examples would be from people who keep their silvers in outdoor ponds.
Who knows, maybe tanning might turn our silvers into a shiney platnum color.

:headbang2 sounds like alchemy to me, yeah! :headbang2

i think you should go ahead guys, no harm in it. maybe it would even look great

that idea is flawed

and barebottom tanks dont relect light

barebottom tanks do reflect some light, intensity depends on what your tank is resting on. most would have weak reflections, but if you're a bored fish swimming in a confined space it could spur the interest to look down. but the possibilities of this causing drop-eye is minimal - not that we really know what causes it, LOL:grinno:

and platinums won't ever be worthless coz their platinum color would be permanent, besides the only platinum aros are X-back asians that have platinum scales instead of gold. plus an arowana tan does not last throughout an aro's lifetime. so how could real platinums ever be worthless?

ehh forget it

not worth explaining
