Badly yes, i've got it on 17-06-2012 and check this thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?484971-Got-my-first-Aro!
Just done a good research and tried to move on pellets by starving him and now it's more than 2 months... Didn't gave him any meaty food since i've got him and offered only pellets... Before 2 or 3 weeks from now, when i put the pellets on his mouth area he's grabbing some and after seconds spiting all out... And now it's looking ugly coz fins damaged too much and not recovering, swimming hardly :(
he is in with
4 Silver dollar
1 Red belly pacu
1 Tiger oscar
1 Albino oscar
Im realy upset about him.. what shoud i do?

Hmm just moved him into 5 gal and given some chicken, and now he is swimming like snake, very fast... Now what shoud i do? Starve again?

silvers are best left alone till they reach 12".. i'm not sure about the size of your other fish.. 5 gallon!!!???? please get a minimum of 30 gallon for that fish.. 2 months for a 6" fish is too much.. you should not have even started pellet training.. please make sure you have adequate oxygen / clean water / calm water (no powerheads) and good filtration.. please chuck in some grasshoppers / crickets / blood worms / earth worms / guppy and get the fish to start eating again.. take care.

X2. Sounds like no matter what, he's destined to kill this fish. Everyone said to stop adding fish. Every reply is him adding fish, then moving them out to a 5 gal. This is the internet so I dont care what anyone thinks: these people DO NOT belong in the hobby. Sell your fish and get GI Joe's. Can't kill them.

Just wondering what kind of pellets are you using? Or what brand? I started my arowana from when he had a sack and I never gave him any type of poultry or fish fillets. (Not saying fish fillets are a bad idea). But the brand can definitely make a big difference. There are a bunch of brands Just meant for arowana or foods that a great for arowana and your mix. Hikari is a great choice. They have a taste that almost all fish lover and they soften so its more edible to them. When it got to about 8 inches I started running out of Hikari and Money. So then I bought a cheaper brand called Sera. They sell floating arowana carnivore pellets as well. Mine at them as well. But be wary about the Sera Pellets. They turn the water red as the pellets are red as well. They have carrotine in it so my arowana keeps its red tint in its fins. Every now and then feed them a live cricket. They are top water swimmers. Their mouths are meant for insects really. they can eat smaller fish but i think in the wild mostly insects as their wild staple(plz correct me if im wrong). After Sera ran out i started Azoo. Azoo seems good as well but not as favorable as Hikari or Sera. Im going to go back to Hikari and NLS as soon as i got another job during school. But keep in mind. Crickets are very nutritous if fed correctly. Mealworms are great too! But i digress. So the 3 Brands to look at is Hikari, Sera, and Azoo. NLS is a good brand but their taste isnt that great to the fish. mine ignores it alot.. So yeah.
