cichla need fish in their diet..so i say yes, feed the silversides, along with high quality pellets, shrimp..whatever they will take.

A varied diet is the best way to get your cichla growing. I feed mine lots of different things. Just cut the silversides small enough so the pbass can eat them.
i Feed silver sides along with blood worms FD Krill Frozen krill market shirmp and the ocasional feeder.... vary is the key dont stick on all Silver sides they also have a high fat content whcih could be bad in the end
silversides aren't bad as part of a varied diet.. i've had trouble getting mine to eat the LFS frozen silversides, but they eat smelt with no problem at all and smelt for human consumption is far less expensive. Check your local ethnic grocery stores, most hispanic groceries carry smelt for less than $2 lb.
i agree i feed em 3 times aday in the morning red mosquito, then frozen silversides and in the evening feeders growing like hell
