In the near future i will be putting up an indoor pond in my cellar(to house my RTC when he ghrows more)I plan on using 1 of those aluminium kiddie pools. What would be a simple inexpensive filter to use for this set up???Thanks.:headbang2

Fluval FX5...

200 from JohnPTC
I got mine from a lfs by me for 206, since they also offered me huge discounts on all the stuff to pack it with if I did so.

You may want to avoid aluminum. Could get corrosion and have adverse effects on your fish. Stick with more stable compounds such as poly.
I do agree that an FX5 would do it. You could also plumb for an inline system. I hve a few and they can be a treat to work with.

I would use a 20L bucket and powerhead to make a bucket filter. Attach some pipe onto the powerhead, drop into the bottom of the bucket and cover with 6mm gravel. Its essentially a canister filter that doesnt need to be waterproof. Leave the handle on the bucket to make moving and cleanng easier. Its so economical you could have two and clean them alternately. If you have trouble lifting a full 20L bucket, you can use smaller buckets.

im more of a its gotta look nice kinda guy myself not ghetto..dan fellers set up is great i love the biowheel idea.... but seriously for 200 shipped you cant beat the fx5 from johnptc

You can use large terracotta pots (or nice plastic pots) and plant real water lilies/aquatic plants in the gravel media if you want class. A $20 powerhead and 20L of filtration area on a pond DOES beat any canister in my book. Each to their own though!
