kept mine at 78.
problem was grew to 6 feet and wife didn't like it pushing lid off tank to wake her up.

Green Moray?

hmmm, just maintain food supplies, a 78 degree water, and a not too moist place.

I've seen morays in the wild as cold as low 60's and as high as low 90's. In captivity, I usually run them in the mid to upper 70's.

Haha I was only trying to be comical. You were in the shark and ray section. Those are the monsters that subtitle refers to I believe. Didn't mean to offend

I think that that much of a temperature swing is not ideal at all. Low 80s should be avoided if possible.. True tropical range I believe is 72-79 or 80. And even big swings within that range aren't good. That's why I suggested that you should find a temp you can keep it near 24/7 and leave it there, even if it's 80 and you need a heater to keep it there. 83 midday to 80 at night is better than 83 down to 76 and then back up and so on.

Thanks for the responses guys...

Capo larzo... I'm not offended in any way, shape, or form. Just didn't think I'd get any good answers by real keepers in the general salt section. I apologize to the mods for the confusion....

The swings aren't that drastic during a 24 hour period... More week to week with the weather here. I stabilized it, as I just threw a few more heaters in there turned down. I think most of it came from my skimmer sitting next to a previously open window..... Closed the window and found a little better fitting 5 gallon bucket cap for the collection cup as well.

Would a mid 70s temp slow the metabolism without it being unhealthy? These things eat a pretty decent amount of food......

Sorry for the newb questions.... I just always kept these things and never bothered to ask any of this stuff... But lately I've been second guessing some of these things.

I keep my mexican dragon, yellow head and zebra eels at around 80 F. It sometimes goes a little higher during the summer to 84 F (got to fix that central air) but no problems in the past 3 years. They are still eating and growing and I seldom see them with their mouths open (low O2). The mexican dragon eel bit me again yesterday while I was trying to reach the yellow head. I've got to buy a longer feeding stick!
