Oh so now Im retarded, that is something increadbly smart to say for someone comparing the uv needs of a painted turtle to the ones of a bearded dragon. They are COMPLETLY diferent and actualy I wouldnt use a mercury vapor bulb even for a bearded dragon because I know people ho tryed it and ended up with animals with severe eye problems, you were lucky. Im pro mercury vapor bulbs IF they are used for the proper animals (desert animals such as chuckwallas, desert iguanas, bearded dragons or for specific medicinal purpouses) and if they are tested first to make shure the uv levels are not behond what is suposed to emit. And for your information, which just shows how ignorant you are, keeping painted turtles outside IF DONE SAFELY is one of the healtiest things someone can possibly do for animals of this species, they are with the exception of one subspecies cold hardy animals that trive in large planted outdoor ponds because that is the habitat they are specially adapted to live in...sd760;4125308; said:whoever said an mvb is over kill, is well retarded. ur justification is to keep it out side because its safer than an mvb hahaha good one. in a perfect world it would be nice to live in a perfect world where we couild keep our animals in the ideal outside temperatures but for normal people an mvb is safe alot safer than exposing a domestic animal to the elements and predators of the outside world of today.
