I have a 10 gallon standard tank and I want a single fish or single fish with schooling fish. Apart from a betta because I already know about them.

Dwarf gourami and a school of celestial pearl danios.

A single sword tail or platy and the CPDs

Scarlet badis

A group of sparkling gourami

Shell dwellers maybe? Although I'd think a 20 long tank would be better.

Reactions: Joshuakahan
Dwarf puffer (maybe dwarf red eye but 15 is better)
Badis
Dwarf frogs
Dwarf crayfish

There’s some pretty cool brackish and marine options too if your curious.

While i know you said you already know about bettas, have you looked into the less common types such as Betta Channoides or Betta Albimarginata which can be quite interesting imo...

Otherwise a school of Celestial Pearl Danios as mentioned above in a simple planted tank would be quite nice to to look at too...

Solo would be fine. They are small and not too active.

Could there be tank mates with a dwarf pike in a 10 gallon just because it would be nice to have some activity in the tank
