ya no definitly not an oscar. they are extremly messy. go with the other ideas.

"Extremely messy" can easily be dealt with. It's the potential of a 12" plus fish in such a small tank that is the concern. The tank is just barely over 3 foot long.

can somebody that keep green terror tell how they are, like are they messy fun to watch are they active?

All larger cichlids are "messy" so that's not the issue. A male green terror could grow to big for your tank, but is not a bad choice. There are many GT owners that report their GTs turning into real "glassbangers" or "wet pets"

Hmm.
I thought a tank that size was too small.
I've got a 3'x1' that I thought about putting a GT and a Pink con into.

Thats a pretty small tank for a single GT just my opinion but i would go at least a 55 i have a single GT 6" in a 90

NO you dont you big LIER, your GT is in your 55, wishful thinking doesnt make it true haha. but yea bro a 40 something gal is pretty small for any fish that gets as big as a GT, you might be able to get away with it for a few years If you get a GT small. then you could even put tank mates like tiger barbs n such. GT's are pretty cool there not so much hiders and not so much super active either, but the male GT is awsome IMO long fins great color very cool fish but males get pretty big. but just be prepared to upgrade to a bigger tank down the line thats all.

hmm...I know you want a single but you could always do a pair of Convicts. Theyre fiesty and nice looking. Or a single Jack Dempsey although they get around 8 inches.
