African Brown Knife. I got my first bichir(a senegal) as a tank mate for my knife, but it became my tank favorite. Bichers are just awesome, prehistoric looking, loaded with attitude, what's not to love?

I put several Oscars together with my polys... but make sure that your polys are bigger than any cichlids...
I put one of my Oscar out of my main tank coz he keeps harrasing my smaller poly mistaken them for being foods...

Im glad you all mentioned knife fish! ive always loved those, the shops here rarely get them, so i ordered a African Knife fish from my LFS, luckly the girl running the shop is a school friend. It shows up tomorrow, but i got a question, it listed Black ghost knife, African knife, and Brown knife. But i cant seem to find seperate info about the african / brown, are they the same or ?
you could keep around 3 or 4 in a 50 g. and mixing an 8'' with 2'' -3'' is risky but easily achieved as long as you keep them well fed and put a lot of hiding place

IMO African and brown are the same coz It's full name is African brown knife fish... I never heard any brown knife... But IME I've had 1 Clown knife fish that's color brown...
My Tank list right now is African Brown Knife, Polypterus senegalus (2), Cherry Barb (3), Zebra Danio (2), Pacu (2) , Common Pleco, Silver Dollar (3), Rainbow Shark (2), Red Fin Shark, Albino tinfoil Barb.
Eventually the pleco and pacus are moving up to my bigger tank once they grow a bit.
What fish can clean up the bottom that wont bother my bichir/other fish, and wont get eaten?

You've said that. More than once. He's acknowledged he's moving it. It's something to watch for, doesn't happen with all plecos either.ymolina;3196222; said:
