Thanks, Im deciding between either several silver dollars or 20 exodons
silver dollars are nice to look at but do a youtube search of exodons feeding and you'll be sold on them. They're everything people THINK piranhas are

I don't count the tail LOL but yeah that's right they grow real fast. About that size the growth rate will start to slow down a little. Basically when they start to look crowded in there time to upgrade, or if they start getting extra nippy. I had 3 that were raised their whole life in a 55 and were even spawning in that small tank. Like I said they will be fine for a couple years in there.

Wouldn't it be better to just get 3 , rather than wasting money on 5 if they're going to get harassed/ killed?

you're buying them at a stage that they're more likely to eat each other though, you could get 3 and end up with 1. you're more likely to successly keep 3 if you bought them already at the 6 inch mark

I have 3 Piranha in 55gals. myself - 8" Net, 7" Net, 11" Caribie - none raised togather they've been cohabing in the 55 since May or June with very little issues however they were all adults when introduced to each other. I realize this kinda Co-hab ain't supposed to happen but it is, as well as being one of the most active Piranha tank I've ever owned. But no worries they have a larger tank to go into whenever I get off my lazy rear and cycle it. Til' then I won't be buying anymore adult RBP's.
