Hey guys.
Well, I might be acquiring a tank around 30g soon, and I've kinda become interested in SW lately. I couldn't think of any interesting FW fish to put in there, so I figured why not go SW? Now, I'm a noob at SW. I got basically no idea what I'm doing so I want to keep it simple. I was thinking about doing a real simple single specimen or single species tank, just to make it a little easier on me. The problem is, I don't know what fish I should get. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas?
I'd like the fish to be something like this:
-Small enough for a 30g, but not too small.
-Some sort of oddball or weird fish.
-Can be kept alone or with only it's species.
-Could be aggressive, but it doesn't matter.
-Fairly active.
-Somewhat easy to care for.
-Will accept prepared foods.

That's all.
Please let me know if you have any ideas!

If you are not too keen on the two highlighted points then you can go for a frog fish, also called as an angler fish. They are not that active but IMO look amazing. They can be trained to take krill and shrimp.

The other option would be a dwarf lionfish..

I saw some angler fish, but couldn't really find any that I though would fit in. Do you have any scientific names?
Also, I do like dwarf lions...
How many could I put in a 30g?

I don't know the scientific name for that fish but I do know that they are also called as frog fish or toad fish..
dwarf lions get about 5"..? so I'm guessing two would do real good in your tank...

Not really a salt guy but how bout some cowfish?

Odd looking with lots of personality!

Get a Single Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish... That would look awesome in there..

Or a Marine Betta...

Allright.
I'll look into the marine betta.

Cowfish?
I'll look that up.

Any other suggestions?

I would day a 55 gallon would be minimal for a marine betta, they get rather large. Also cowfish need a bigger tank than 30 gallons. Your best bet would be some type of angler. Like the wartskin angler.

Dwarf lionfish would work but are also not very active IMHO.

cowfish get too big for a 30 gallon

a black spotted boxfish might work though (a 55+ would be ideal)
