Rallysman nd Vanimate...Your Perches are arguably the best fish I have seen in a lot of time!!!

Wouild I love to have one!

I've got 2 young ones I got about a month ago. How much salt if any do they like per 10 gallons of water?
Also, I'd love to get pics but still trying to figure out how to get decent ones. I've got a Canon Powershot Pro 1 digital but with flash they wash out, without it's too dark. Any tips would be appreciated.

Wish I could help you out, but I just got lucky. I was interested in Cichlids and picked up a 29 Gallon tank for them. On the way back (used) I stopped at the local Pet Supplies Plus to get some and they workers were feeding the Perch and asked if I had seen them. I debated about it and went back to get them the next day. Haven't seen any since then.
Hard to find info even. Maybe if I see them again I could buy them, keep them for a bit to let them calm down then ship them out to others. Are they really that hard to find?
Still can't figure out how to get a good pic.

Thanks for the feedback sevenspeed. That would be very kind of you if you could get some more then sell them to us less fortunate - it appears that there would be at least a few intested buyers here in the forums. Also - do any of the employees there have any info on who the supplier was that shipped them these fish? That would help a great deal. I have local fish store owner who would be happy to get me some but he has not seen any listed from his distributors. If I could get the phone # or even just a company name, I could pass it on.

Thanks, and I would love to see your fish pics.

No problem, I didn't even think about asking who the supplier is. I was going to go down there and see about getting a 1 day a week job for some extra cash, someone's gotta know where they came from. It's a Pet Supplies Plus and it seems they have certain ones that are always in and a couple tanks that you never know. Now it's pirahna's. Feeder fish is what I have the biggest problem with, seems like when I run out they do too. I need to just buy a bunch and make fishsicles, heh.

Any tips for taking pics with a digicam? I think lighting is my problem.

As for feeders -see if you can get frozen "Sand eels". My Loisellei like them and they are far less likely to spread disease than live feeders, more nutritious than goldfish, you can easily store them, and they are lot cheaper! Also start a red worm culture - dirt cheap (pun intended), and every fish I've owned loves them. Finally, bulk meal worms on the internet. You can start up an ongoing culture and give your fish both the larva and adult beetles - great treat, adds variety, and it is fun to watch the feeding frenzing over a batch of beetles.

As for the pics, try moving the aquarium lights forward so that you get more light reflecting off the fish instead of partially coming from behind and shadowing the fish (cameras are more sensitive to this effect than the Mark V eyeball).

Haven't made it to the store yet, hope to find out where they get. Anway here is my "sole survivor" unfortunately. So sad, wonder how much it would cost to immortalize the other guy (in the freezer atm.)
I made a mistake and neglected the pair thinking I didnt have to worry about excess food wasting away so got busy with more important matters and saw one of them acting funny and did a hurried water change before work. Either it was too late or the water wasn't warm enough, either way I'm a reformed killer :( But I learned my lesson.
Anyway here is my favorite fish, "Spike" didn't know they were that rare.
